The Refuge Muzzerone offers ospitality and refreshment for those who want to practice every kind of sport tourism (trekking, climbing and sea). The refuge is equipped with two bedrooms, one with four beds and one with six beds, and a restaurant in which yuo can taste a typical Ligurian cuisine. The Refuge it’s open all the year, and animals are well accepted.
POSITION
The Refuge it’ located on the mountain Muzzerone, in the front side of the island Palmaria. You can only come by foot to Portovenere or Campiglia following the trail AV5T.
BY CAR
From La Spezia go towards Portovenere
Arrived at the locality Le Grazie follow the directions
for the rock climbing gym of Mountain Muzzerone,walk across the street
until you arrive in a square to the left of the road,as a reference, you will
see the orange column for emergency calls.
Walk along the pathway AV5T to Portovenere,in about 10 minutes
you will be at the refuge.
BY PUBBLIC TRANSPORT
From La Spezia by bus or by boat, arrived at Portovenere, take the trail AV5T (for Campiglia or Riomaggiore), starting to Bastreri Square and walking for about thirty minutes. The Refuge rises near the climbing area call “Mandracchia”.
WHAT WE OFFER
From the terrace oh the Refuge, you will see the Appennines mountains, Portovenere and the Palmaria island, breathing fresh air and tasting the typical dishes of the Ligurian tradition. Families with children are good accepts, with the possibility for kids to have fun in the open air, or with board games in case of bad weather, while the parents can relax in front of the wood stove and reading one of the books made avaiable.
STRUCTURE AND SERVICES
The Refuge Muzzerone makes it avaible to costumers rooms fo four or six person with confortable bunk beds and pratical duvets, toiolet services in common and hot shower. Breakfast is included in the price,on request, it’s possible have a dinner at the structure (half board), served at 8.00 p.m.
We offer a simple cuisine, genuine, variety and taste of the kitchen with which we grew up handed down by our parents. The restaurant, can accommodate up to forty people (under cover) and one hundred and twenty people (in total),it’s always open. It’s possible immerse yourtself in flavors of traditional cuisine with raw materials always fresh and seasonal. You can choose the fixed menu, including starter, first dish,second dish,dessert, a quarter of wine and water, or to Paper between the many dishes offered. We are also alert to vegetarians.. The Refuge Muzzerone it’s especially for those who love climbing,because near the structure ther is a “Central wall” which was equipped by the navy’s of the Italian Navy,which have been based in “Le Grazie” since the seventies. You can climb, with varying degrees of difficulty in order to allow both beginners and experienced rockers to enjoy themselves safely. Starting from the Refuge it’s also possible to carry out many hijing trails along the marked paths.
From the refuge you can start for an excursion to the "Cinque Terre"until Monterosso (the last of the Cinque Terre),the walk requires engagement commitment as it takes a day of walking. The stages can be divided, for example from the Rifugio towards Riomaggiore (about three hours),you can reach, near Campiglia the charming bay of Tramonti among the most beautiful of all the Liguria. From Monterosso you can continue to Levanto and then get to the suggestive "Punta Mesco"
From Portovenere it's possible visit the island Palmaria, With a convenient boat service which leaves every half hour,arrived at the island you can choose different paths,from the most demanding and fulfilling (about 3h) leading to the summit from which one you can admire he whole island, to the path leading to the beach of "Pozzale" where there is a lovely restaurant With great fish specialties.The sea at that point it's of sub-interest even for less experienced ones.
